A Desperate Yang Gloms Onto Microsoft

recession_lemons_small.jpgADOTAS – The election may be over, but we apparently can’t escape flip-flopping: Yahoo’s chief, Jerry Yang, has decided that a deal between Yahoo and Microsoft is a good idea after all. This of course comes after Google officially canned a search advertising deal that was expected to rake in as much as $800 million for the struggling Internet pioneer.

Just hours after Google said the deal was a no-go, Yang reportedly told executives at the Web 2.0 Summit that he’s “open-minded” about selling Yahoo’s search arm to Microsoft.

“People who know me know I don’t have an ego about remaining independent versus not remaining independent,” Yang said.

He added that there was “no news” on talks between the companies, a.k.a. “don’t hold your breath on this one.” Rumors have been swirling around the blogosphere that Yang will soon step down from his CEO post.

Reader Comments.

I’m waiting for the headline “Yahoo attempts to sell itself on its own auction site. High bid only $12.”
