Media Growth Slows to Crawl: Report

snail1.jpgADOTAS – The country’s top 100 media ships witnessed the slowest growth since 2001. And that was last year – before the financial meltdown, Ad Age reports.

The top 100 did see a 4.6% revenue spike last year for a net media revenue of $299.1 billion. Digital was the biggest cash cow with 10.8% growth. Cable networks also saw significant growth at 10.6%. Newspapers lost the most, with revenue down almost 7%.

This year will likely be much worse, but many observers are noting that while digital will be affected, it won’t be hit nearly as hard as other sectors.
