Comcast Unveils Traffic-Management Plan

traffic.jpgADOTAS – Comcast Corp. has formally given the Federal Communications Commission the down-low on how it plans to manage its broadband network in the future, without blocking apps or content.

Comcast said that its new plan has been designed to give all users a fair share of bandwidth – and that it would only manage the traffic of bandwidth-hogging customers when the network was facing a traffic jam. To manage the heaviest users during peak times (about 1% of users), Comcast plans to create a second stream of traffic that will have lower priority compared with regular users.

The company said it plans to put the policy in effect by the end of the year. Comcast has more than 14 million high-speed Internet subscribers.
