ADOTAS – AOL.com has completely redesigned its homepage, making available third-party email services (Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail), integration with social sites, an RSS reader and personalized bookmark. This is a first: no other major players online give users access to competitors.
The under-performing AOL is clearly looking to shake things up – and it needs to, desperately – to attract younger, tech-savvy users. But AOL’s other attempts to get hip to the new millennium have failed (see: new vertical sites for women, parents, and pop culture fanatics; video players; new ad formats).
So far this year, unique visitors are down by 12.7%, Compete reports.
