10-Year-Old Google Kicking 33-Year-Old Microsoft’s Butt

badboy2.jpgADOTAS – Google is celebrating its 10th birthday this Sunday. (It applied for incorporation a decade ago yesterday and won approval over the weekend). The New York Times examines how Google has grown – in comparison to arch-nemesis 33-year-old Microsoft.

Microsoft still out-earns Google ($60.4 billion vs. $19.6 billion in the last four quarters). But Microsoft’s revenue at Google’s age was about $140 million, or $279 million in today’s dollars, the Times reports. And Microsoft’s revenue per employee is also much lower than Google’s ($672,000 vs. $1 million).

Google is also kicking butt in the search department (48.7 billion in July vs. Microsoft’s 2.3 billion).
