yahoo_small.jpgADOTAS – Yahoo’s erstwhile senior vice president Todd Teresi has jumped ship to join Web metrics shop Quantcast. Teresi joins Quantcast as its chief revenue officer. Many are wondering: why would a Yahoo vet of 10 years, most recently as the leader of its network biz, jump to a startup that’s competing against the likes of industry warhorses Nielsen and comScore?

So far, Quantcast has raised an impressive $26 million in funding. Publishers don’t have to pay to measure their audiences (just like Google Analytics). But Quantcast’s business model may be shakier than Google’s: it doesn’t sell ads as of now. And Teresi hasn’t been able to elucidate exactly what Quantcast’s model is.

“We’re not going into the ad-network business, so to speak,” Teresi told AdAge. “We look at how we enable the existing players to have a better digital-advertising opportunity.”
