datacenter.jpgADOTAS – Comcast announced details on new restrictions it is placing on Internet usage. Consumers who eat up 250 GB of data a month will be issued a warning call on their first offense, and on their second, their service will be suspended for a year.

The policy will begin October 1. Comcast said it won’t provide users with tools to monitor their bandwidth usage, which at first glance seems preposterous. However, according to the company, the median monthly data usage by residential customers falls between 2 and 3 GB.

To actually use 250 GB of data, one would have to send about 50 million e-mails, download about 62,500 songs and 125 movies and upload 25,000 hi-res digital photos, Comcast said.
