Boomers Are Slutty Shoppers
ADOTAS – It seems Boomers tend to be faster and looser with their cash than the under-40 set. According to a TV Land study run by OTX, consumers aged 40 to 59 have three spending traits: they’re “promiscuous purchasers, free agent shoppers and savvy switchers.”
“While we have always known that it’s a mistake to underestimate the power of people in their 40s and 50s, ‘Generation BUY’ once again shows us that Boomers are a major source of consumerism in this country,” said Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “Knowing that this generation has so many dependants, the means to buy the products that appeal to them and the willingness to try new brands is powerful information to share with our marketing and advertising partners.”
These free-spending shoppers are also generally in charge of household buys – so targeting the demographic is essential. Boomers spend more than three times the amount of money per month on spouses ($514) than adults under 40 ($169). Additionally, they spend nearly twice as much per month on kids ($295 vs. $158) and three times the amount per month on teen children ($494 vs. $136).
They’re also less loyal to brands than other age groups. Twenty-six percent of Boomers said they are not at all brand loyal versus 21% of Gen X and Millennials. In fact, Gen Y are the most likely to say that once they have made a commitment to a brand, they will stick with it, no matter what. The willingness of 40 and 50 year-olds to buy new brands carries over across virtually every product category including electronics, personal care products, restaurants, automobiles and more.

Is there little wonder why this country is in the state that it is? I’ve been pontificating about the moral, social, and criminal wrongs of the Baby-Boomers for several years now. They are the single most useless generation ever birthed in this country. Born with silver spoons in their mouths, they cry about every single thing. They everything now, pay later. They want to have sex now – free love they say – and not worry about divorce, being single parents, and increasing promiscuity in the younger generations. They want to buy this and buy that now, pay later. So the financial markets created all sorts of buy now pay later products to finance spending and never save. To the point that our financial markets are in shambles now – because of the legacy of the Boomers. They wanted to spend now and not save – so now they are slowly destroying Social Security as they age – leaving us under 40 and under 30 to know that when our time comes, there will be nothing left. They want to eat their fast-food burgers and shun proper diet and exercise – so now, in their old age, they are suffering from all kinds of maladies – and are crippling our healthcare system by their own diseases – which could have been prevented if they took care of their bodies.
The Baby Boomers are singlehandedly the worst generation of people ever born – spoiled, rotten and irresponsible – and will be the cause of the decline of America, vis a vis racking debt.
