Summer Camp in Idaho for Tech Titans
ADOTAS – It’s that time of year again – in the dog days of summer, the coolest tech and media mavens retreat for their version of summer camp. (The press has limited access to the fun, automatically increasing the fun for everyone else).
Financier Herb Allen hosts the five-day annual gathering in Sun Valley, Idaho. Starting tomorrow, the crème de la crème of the media and tech world will stream in to the boozy, pool-peppered, sun-dappled conference to discuss everything from Google to the economy, and even Iraq, Reuters reports.
Last year’s topic was “Content Is King.” This year’s topic is being kept under wraps, but when it kicks off, word will likely leak to the outside world from the attendees BlackBerrys and iPhones.
Likely attendees include a list of veritable Who’s Who in the media and tech universe: Rupert Murdoch, Sumner Redstone, Warren Buffett, eBay’s Meg Whitman, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts co-founder Henry Kravis, Sirius’ Mel Karmazin, Viacom’s Philippe Dauman, Jerry Yang, Sony’s Howard Stringer, Time Warner chairman Richard Parsons, Jeff Bezos, Warner Music’s Edgar Bronfman Jr., Universal’s Ron Meyer, Disney’s Robert Iger, Paramount’s Brad Grey, Mark Zuckerberg, Ning founder and Facebook board member Marc Andreessen, Discovery’s David Zaslav, Sling Media’s Blake Krikorian, Sergei Brin and Eric Schmidt, Reuters reports.
Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are expected to be no-shows.
