YouTube Lets Producers Give Ad-Selling a Go

you tubeADOTAS – Google is trying yet another tactic to monetize ad space on YouTube: allowing content creators to sell ads. (Google’s chief, Eric Schmidt made monetizing YouTube his number one priority in 2008).

Professional producers (people who have their own ad-sales teams) will be able to shill ads on their own YouTube channels – from display units to overlays. Revenue will be split between YouTube and the producers.

This latest venture was created to supplement, not supplant, YouTube’s current ad sales efforts, which target ads by channel or vertical, instead of video-by-video.

YouTube is the world’s largest video-viewing site with more than 4 billion videos watched in March, according to comScore.
