Yahoo, Coupons To Send Mobile Coupons to the Masses
ADOTAS – Yahoo and Coupons Inc. are working together to help consumers discover and redeem coupons from their mobile phones on the go. Coupons’ mobile platform is available now to all the brands in Yahoo’s network.
Many industry watchers see mobile coupons as a promising source of revenue for mobile publishers as more and more consumers eschew the clip n’ save coupons of yore – they also theorize that helping consumers save money in a down economy will help open up consumers to other forms of interactive ads on mobile phones.
“We see mobile coupons as a natural extension of our leading digital marketing platform and a way to turn coupons into a strategic marketing vehicle that delivers value,” said Steve Boom, senior vice president of mobile, Yahoo, in a release. “Our global reach, leading position in mobile advertising and the ability to deliver the right offer to people, coupled with Coupons, Inc.’s leadership in coupons, creates a unique opportunity to define and catalyze the market for mobile coupon promotions. When consumers get a coupon they want it’s not seen as an ad ‒ but a gift.”
Coupons hopes to accelerate consumers’ conversion by offering clients free participation for the next year.
Coupons’ clients include General Mills, Kraft Food, Clorox and Papa John’s Pizza.
