Visa Gives Facebook $2M Ad Infusion

facebook_small.jpgADOTAS – Facebook is trying another tack in its endless push to monetize online advertising on its network. Visa created a small-business network for Facebook, and as part of the deal, the credit-card company is shelling out $2 million in advertising credit on the social networking site. (Visa said the credit is for small business owners who want to reach new customers and drive growth).

The Visa Business Network was designed to help smaller shops tap into the 80,000 plus network of mom n’ pop shops on Facebook and provide them will targeting tools.

Visa will provide the first 20,000 U.S.-based businesses that join the network with a $100 Facebook Ads credit. Facebook Ads allow businesses target users based on their interests, location, age and gender.

Visa’s network will also include maps, calendars, word processing, a template for expense sheets and business cards, courtesy of Google. The Wall Street Journal and Entrepreneur Magazine will provide news content.
