Online Ads Grow Worldwide; Paid Search SPIKES
ADOTAS – At least one set of projections for interactive advertising is actually improving: ZenithOptimedia, owned by the Publicis Groupe, predicts that global internet advertising spending will mushroom 26.7% — and finally bust past the 10% ad-budget share this year.
A quarter ago, Zenith was predicting online advertising would break the 10% mark in 2009. Now the company is saying that online will garner 13.6% of all ads in 2010 (previous predictions had online ad share at about 12.3% in 2010).
A separate report from Covario reports that paid search is enjoying some time in the sun. In the first quarter, paid search spend was up 52% year-over-year. The company examined the spending of 128 clients and discovered (surprise!) that Google leads in market share in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In the first quarter, interactive advertisers shelled out 86% of their budgets on Google (a spike of 10% year-over-year). Yahoo’s spend decreased by about 12%.
