Playboy Hires Marketing Guru in Digital Push

playboy1.jpgADOTAS – Playboy Enterprises is going digital. The company just hired Dan Smith as senior vice president of its marketing for its digital media group, a newly created position.

Smith will spearhead Playboy’s interactive marketing push, shepherd the brand across the company’s digital and mobile channels and guide strategy for its mushrooming e-commerce business (including products that can be purchased online).
Smith’s background doesn’t exactly scream bikinis and bunnies: most recently, he was a senior vice president of marketing for Encyclopedia Britannica’s consumer digital business. He also worked at FTD.com as an executive vice president.
