Micro Update on Microsoft/Yahoo Deal

ADOTAS – Microsoft Corp. confirmed today that it is not going to bid for Yahoo.

“We are not bidding to buy Yahoo,” honcho Steve Ballmer said in Israel at the launch of the company’s new research and development center. “Yet, we are trying to have discussions about deals with Yahoo that might create value, but not a whole acquisition of the company.”

Microsoft also confirmed that it’s in talks with Yahoo over search advertising deals in an attempt to compete with online advertising kings Google. The companies have about 9%, 21% and 60% of the search market each, respectively.
