Wizzard Conjures Up Two Distribution Deals
ADOTAS – Podcasting network Wizzard Media today announced that it has signed a global distribution agreement with www.elatinoweekly.com, an independent Latino-centered publication based in L.A. eLatino launched an online site in 2003, but its deal with Wizzard marks its leap to broadcast content.
Wizzard will distribute video for eLatino, targeting more than 300 million Spanish-speaking mobile users worldwide; the content will be supported by interactive advertising and sponsorship agreements.
Hispanics’ buying power is expected to reach $1.2 trillion by 2012, according to the Selig Center for Economic Growth. Almost 50% of U.S. Latinos are under the age of 27 and twice as many of them are moviegoers, compared to any other population segment in the nation, according to research compiled by eLatino. In addition, 56% of U.S.-based Latinos, 21% of South Americans and 18% of Central Americans are Web users.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide our viewers in the U.S. and around the world access to bi-lingual Spanish and English video content,” said Skip Fredricks, Sr. VP Content Distribution, Wizzard Media. “This is our first significant partnership with a Latino media group and we are confident the international Latino community, together with those in a variety of ethnic groups, will embrace this content and find common ground and communication through this important vehicle.”
Wizzard also announced a content distribution partnership with indie film company Fishman Products to distribute film and TV projects through Wizzard’s digital syndication network.
“Wizzard Media is on the cutting-edge of digital media distribution, and Fishman Productions is focused on taking advantage of the power of podcasting and online communities,” said Jeff Fishman, CEO and founding principle of Fishman Productions, in a release. “We look forward to building a branded channel on the Wizzard Media Network, increasing our presence in the world of social media and developing relationships with advertisers.”
Wizzard Media had from its network 1 billion download requests last year.
