Wi-Fi TV: Online TV Ads Will Out-Earn Traditional TV Ads
ADOTAS – Wi-Fi TV has outlined its vision for online video advertisements as Internet TV continues to evolve. Wi-Fi has rolled out two new ad opportunities on its Social Internet TV platform.
“Think of TV just 25 years ago and how little interactivity there was with the viewer and advertiser. Now think of IPTV and the kind of Internet TV being delivered today by Wi-Fi TV, and the tremendous level of connection with the user. From live chat sessions, to viewing that can be pinpointed by topic and program, to one click ordering and ad info gathering, and on to the next step in user involvement that is just around the corner this year, and you see this represents a complete change for advertising,” said Alex Kanakaris, chairman, Wi-Fi TV, in a public forum with industry leaders.
“Millions of young people, along with technically savvy professionals, all among prime ad demographics, are shifting their viewing of TV away from static TV to interactive Internet TV. The business model of Wi-Fi TV, which includes allowing a search for TV stations by topic, will now be enhanced to include a powerful online video ad engine,” Kanakaris added.
Wi-Fi predicts that the link between interactive advertising and social networking will go stronger as the social environment grow and changes – and will ultimately supplant traditional TV ads as the leading source of revenue in the video medium overall.
The company was launched in 1995 and has been publicly traded since November of 1997.
