Doomsday for DoubleClickers!

foodcut.jpgADOTAS – Rumors are swirling that today doomsday has finally arrived for DoubleClickers. The Silicon Alley Insider reports that Google has started swinging the ax and that the bloodletting won’t end until tomorrow. Tech blogs have been on fire all week with hearsay, but so far, no rock-hard news has emerged.

It’s unclear how many DoubleClickers will be axed by Google, but Valleywag is predicting that 15% of its total staff – the Dart for Advertisers and Dart for Publishers sales team will be cut by about 20%.

Google bought DoubleClick for $3.1 billion last month and Google chief Eric Schmidt said from the beginning that some DoubleClickers would be cut.

According to comScore, Google’s advertising click-through rates were flat in January and 3% year-over-year in February. Google searches in general are also reportedly down by as much as 6%.
