Yahoo Targets Women, Advertisers With Shine

sun1.jpgADOTAS — Yahoo is targeting the hard-to-pin-down but financially powerful 25-54 female set with its new site, called Shine. It’ll feature blogs and content from Conde Nast, Eating Well Media, Rodale, Hearst and Time.

Yahoo is increasingly focusing on its vertical Web sites, including Yahoo News, Finance and Sports and Entertainment.

Shiners will be able to create their own blogs and content and the site will be integrated with Yahoo’s Search, Food, Health, Messenger, Answers and Astrology sites. Shine will compete with Glam (about 29 million unique visitors) and iVillage (about 16 million unique visitors) according to comScore.

The site may have its work cut out for it, but women and interactive advertisers will likely be attracted to its sleek, bloggy look and witty content (Brandon Holley, former editor-in-chief of Jane and Elle Girl is running the site). Check it out at: http://shine.yahoo.com.
