Newspaper Hires Yahoo Developer



yahoo_small.jpgADOTAS – Guardian News & Media recently announced that it hired Matt McAlister away from Yahoo. McAlister directed Yahoo’s developer network in San Francisco. The U.K. paper said it planned to expand its tech department – McAlister will head up the Guardian News and Media’s development network, spearheading a move to offer data and tools to external developers.

He worked on open development projects at Yahoo since joining the company in 2005 – he participated in RSS and social media initiatives. At the Guardian, he will report to Mike Bracken, the technology director for development for Guardian News and Media.

“We want to allow people to connect, and will provide data that people they can reuse and be creative with a vehicle that will help engage smaller agencies and development team in other companies create applications,” Bracken told the Guardian newspaper.
