Olympic Blogs Approved

running1.jpgADOTAS – The International Olympic Committee said on Friday that it is giving the go-ahead for the first time to bloggers wishing to report at the games, issuing guidelines for the upcoming Beijing Games.

The IOC has been reticent to allow blogging by athletes at the Games due to privacy and copyright concerns, reports Reuters. The IOC said “The IOC considers blogging… as a legitimate form of personal expression and not a form of journalism. It is required that, when accredited persons at the Games post any Olympic content, it be confined solely to their own personal Olympic-related experience.”

Bloggers will be banned from posting any visuals from the Games or audio clips of any confidential third party information the report continues.

Any blog should not have an exclusive agreement with any company or commercial reference or advertising the report said.
