desktop3.jpgADOTAS – Adobe Systems Inc. has taken the browser out of online site surfing with a new application called AIR. Adobe says that the service will allow any company with a site to have a placement on a user’s desktop according to the AP. Site such as EBay, AOL, Nickelodeon and Nasdaq Stock Market Inc. have created compatible, downloadable, desktop versions of their sites using software developed by Adobe.

AIR reduces the wait time for downloading images and data because the desktop is continuously updated while the computer is online. The service runs on any operating system.

Adrian Ludwig, spokesman for Adobe stated “The browser was in the way and the widget, in some instances, was in the way. It’s the willingness to let the brand of the person providing the application to take front and centre.”
