Wikia Search To Launch Next Week!

rocket1.jpgThe highly anticipated Wikia Search has been reported to be going public next week after only a few weeks of invitational beta testing. The new search engine is not claiming that it will be able to take down Google anytime soon. However, with the wildly popular Wikipedia site, and the general likeability of the company, it is not impossible to think that eventually the firm could do just that.

Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia said that his goal is to allow volunteers to improve search technology collectively in the way his original site allows users to change information.

“That reduces the sort of bottleneck of two or three firms really controlling the flow of search traffic,” Wales was quoted to say in E-Commerce News.

Reader Comments.

The launch of wiki search is something dangerous for sites of whole world as google search has its own easy search system while putting infomation of my compnay into wiki means there will be no use of having my own website. So next one month will be cruicial as to see how google, yahoo reacts on that.
