How Much Would You Pay For Plaxo?

auction2.jpgIt is being reported that social network Plaxo is up for sale. The company, which has not made a profit, is seeking a sales price of $100 million, according sources for The New York Times. The site has tried to stay afloat by becoming an aggregator of information from other social networks with its service Plaxo Pulse.

Plaxo Pulse collects information from Twitter, MySpace, Digg, Facebook and many others the report continues. The original goal of the site was to keep address books up to date, but because of this intention, the company sent out millions of emails which came across as spam.

The company was founded in 2001 by Todd Masonis, Cameron Ring and Sean “Napster” Parker. Sequoia Capital has given over $20 million to the company over the years. The report concluded that Plaxo has hired Revolution Partners to handle the auction.
