eBay Changes Prices
eBay Inc. has decided to adjust its prices and tighten up its sales standards in an announcement it made yesterday. This is in an effort to improve the overall quality of both sellers and business, as the company has been suffering a decline in growth.
CEO-in-waiting John Donahoe said in a speech to top store operators that the firm will reward the company’s best-sellers with sales incentives and priority ranking in search results for auction items, reports Reuters.
Fees for both listing items and some of the completed transactions will be raise. The minimum standards will also be raised to discourage abusive sales practices, the report continued.
Donahoe said in prepared material “Sellers that describe items accurately, ship on time, and ship at a fair price will enjoy preferential pricing and discounts on eBay. We’re serious about making eBay easier and safer to shop.”
Changes will be implemented in the U.S. on February 20th and across the auction bidding and fixed price markets. Changes will also be made in Germany and Britain in the coming weeks, and eventually will spread worldwide.
