Bebo, the largest social network in the UK has officially launched its “Open Application Platform”. This opens the site’s interfaces to third-party developers to integrate their applications with Bebo.
Yesterday the company announced partnerships with over 40 developers at a launch event. Michael Birch, CEO and cofounder of Bebo stated “By opening up our application programming interfaces and establishing an open developer-friendly platform, we enable developers big and small to create entertaining, engaging applications for our global community – providing another great way for Beboers to communicate, relate, and express themselves online.”
Bebo’s Open Application Platform will implement the standards defined by the Facebook Platform according to NewsFactor.com. Launch partners include The Gap, Yahoo, NBA, Bantr, FashMatch, Last.fm, Atomic Moguls and Jangl to name a few.
