Organic Goes Green

greenlight.jpgOne of the trends in every market right now is being environmentally conscious. Marita Scarfi, CFO/COO of Organic, an interactive agency saw this trend as an opportunity for her company. Through this inspiration, the Organic’s Green Program was created.

The beginning of these efforts started holistically, purchasing local goods, donating computers, and recycling. “Together with LiveNeutral and through our other initiatives, we are able to make “being green” easy for our employees,” said Scarfi.

The firm recently partnered with LiveNeutral, a non-profit organization focused on reducing global warming emissions to assist in their cause. “We looked at other organizations that offset carbons and chose to work with LiveNeutral because of its dedication to not only offsetting large-scare industrial greenhouse gas reductions, but also in educating organizations and individuals on how they can reduce their footprint,” Scarfi continued. “And we recognize that a majority of our support goes directly to reductions that are legally binding, quantifiable and verifiable.”

Organic’s offsets are equivalent to growing more than 95,000 tree seedlings for 10 years, or taking 808 passenger cars off the road for one year, or recycling 1,257 tons of waste instead of being landfilled. The green living space is not just fashionable for marketers but a positive trend for society. This trend has brought a new niche market that growing at an exponential rate which create a whole new opportunity for advertising.
