WPP FINALLY Purchases Blast Radius
The WPP Group has bought something else. For the second time in the past six weeks, the company announced that yesterday it acquired Blast Radius, an interactive agency based in Vancouver.
This acquisition has been rumored about, but neither company would confess to any discussions of a purchase. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Blast Radius opened in 1997, and has done work for marketers such as Starbucks, Nike and Whirpool. The New York Times reported that the company’s revenue last year was 41.8 million (about $43 million) in Canadian dollars.
The interactive agency is known as a specialist in the market of social networking. The report said that the company will be aligned with Wunderman, a division of WPP that focuses on direct marketing and relationship marketing.
The staff at Blast Radius will stay in place after the acquisition. Wunderman also acquired Aqua Online based in South Africa and These Days based in Belgium, two digital agencies.
Last month, WPP acquired Schematic, and in July acquired 24/7 Real Media for $649 million.
