[...] Three years ago, podcasting was in its infancy. Former MTV VJ, Adam Curry and blog hero, Dave Winer, had popularized the technology and the concept that made it all possible. There were only a handful of shows in existence at that time and, truth be told, the content and production quality was mostly poor. The only thing smaller than the selection of shows was the minimal audience they were trying to reach. Fast- forward to the fall of 2007 and there are thousands upon thousands of podcasts listed in iTunes and hundreds more added each week. Sure, there are still some un-listenable amateur shows produced in basements, but there is also a ton of professionally produced content that is well worth checking out – many of which promotes online businesses. from Adotas [...]

Great article. I know my company started doing podcasts for the golf magazine we publish. And we are looking at doing the same for our two fishing magazines. (if you want to know, golf illustrated, bassin, and crappie world). I agree it is a great tool that can be used in many ways.

Great article,
Keep in mind you don't need thousands of listeners to have a successful podcast. There is a canle podcast (yes a podcast about canles) that is boosting sales through a podcast with less than 100 listeners. There are enldess uses of Podcasts. I use to work for a company that had sales guys all over the state. They would come in for a meeting to have someone read some numbers, deliver a motivational speach, and then they woudl be set loose to sale. Except they weren't in their territories. Why not deliver this via podcast? Then each sales person can listen to the message on the way to their first call. No loss of time, no mileage expenses, etc.

Podcasting. Start today.
