Nokia Unveils New Mobile UMA Phone
On Thursday, Nokia introduced its newest mobile phone model 6301. This new handset has unlicensed mobile access (UMA) capabilities.
Callers can use the web to make calls when in the range of unlicensed wireless networks. Once out of range the connections will instantly change to a UMTS, GSM, or GPRS mobile network according to Reuters.
The new phone will begin shipping in Europe at the end of the year and will cost a reported $322 (230 Euros). Nokia tested the technology last year in July and has officially launched the 6086 UMA phone.
