There’s Food On Your Phone! Zagat Goes Mobile
Zagat Survey has announced the launch of its first ad-supported mobile web site. Zagat.mobi is being sponsored by Visa Signature, in an arrangement by AKQA and sold by Interep Interactive’s Winstar Interactive Media. Third Screen Media, a division of AOL, is currently Zagat.mobi’s partner in ad-serving, and the site was designed by Zagat and Starcut.
There will be a clickable banner ad for Visa Signature on the mobile site. The site will include information on restaurant, hotels and nightlife for all major U.S. cities, as well as London and various other international locations. There will be options for address, phone number and hours of operation; links to relevant options such as airlines; and the possibility to “send to a friend via SMS.”
The free site operates on all phones with internet access. In a release with the announcement of the launch, Nina Zagat, co-founder of the Zagat franchise, also announced the impending launch of the firs-ever Zagat shopping service. The new mobile site will be utilized to launch this new service due later this year.
Visa Signature will also be sponsoring Zagat.com menus, ad on ZagatBuzz, and a giveaway of the “Zagat To Go” software for smartphones in conjunction with their deal for Zagat.mobi. Zagat stated, “We are delivering mobile advertisers highly motivated and active consumers who use their phones constantly to accomplish tasks for both work and play. That’s a great environment for any marketer.”
