Mobile Web Use Soars


growth12.jpgGoogle Inc. announced that the traditional lull of summertime web surfing has been offset by an unprecedented leap in mobile internet use.

The traffic to Google’s mobile searches and email on mobile phones increased by 35% between May and June; which has traditionally decreased during the same time period year-over-year usually dropping 20%-40% during the months of summer.

According to Reuters, Google vice president of search products, Marissa Mayer told reporters at the Search Engine Strategies Conference, “I think this is sort of a sign that people are becoming savvier with their mobile devices, and that there are better devices…The technology curve is catching up. The phones are just better.”

While most of the traffic Google is seeing is reportedly is from United States users, Mayer also added that there is an increase in the demand for Google products in Europe and Japan.
