MySpace Gives TV A Boost

tvstatic.jpgFox Broadcasting and MySpace have made a deal with the Producers Guild of America to employ a new generation of innovative programmers.

A new campaign will be hosted on MySpace called “The Storyteller Challenge”, which encourages aspiring producers to enter TV pilots in the 5-7 minute frame on a page devoted to the contest. The winners will have the opportunity to develop their show for the Fox network and $25,000.

Chris DeWolfe, CEO of MySpace stated, “The Storyteller Challenge gives aspiring producers the potential opportunity to cut through Hollywood’s red tape and get an audience with top brass in the television business, all while cutting their teeth with the MySpace community.”

This and many other similar, emerging contests demonstrates the pull of internet viewing as a form of advertisement for traditional media.
