Yahoo China Launches Blog Network
Blogging, photo-sharing and networking tools are just some of the services integrated into Yahoo China’s new blogging service, as it expands its business to the world’s second largest online subscriber base.
The Yahoo Space service resembles Yahoo Inc.’s Yahoo 360 blogging service in the US. Yahoo China is operated by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.com, which is partially owned by Yahoo Inc. The portal is Alibaba’s primary consumer-level service. According to an internal memo, the Yahoo China network will eventually work with the Alibaba e-commerce platform.
“Search is a tool for the user to get the information he wants, but it is not the final destination,” said Yahoo China president Zeng Ming in a statement to the Reuters news agency. “Yahoo’s next step will be to allow users to share their hobbies with each other so that they can expand their knowledge.”
