Yahoo Invests in Personal Finance
Yahoo Media Group has been quite busy lately, with the launch of Yahoo Food, Tech and as of today, its new Personal Finance portal. Through this personal finance website, consumers will be offered a range of financial centers to manage their personal finance needs, including services such as the “Banking & Budgeting” and “Retirement”.
Using “actionable” as the operative word for the initiative, Peggy White, general manager at Yahoo! Finance states in a press document, “The goal of Yahoo! Finance has always been to help our users make informed financial decisions, and now we’re able to do that across every aspect of their financial lives. All of our users don’t manage an investment portfolio, but we all manage a checkbook. This presents a huge opportunity for Yahoo! Finance to expand beyond our core investing-focused offerings.”
Yahoo PF features 9 other resource centers that cover all major areas of personal finance, which include Taxes, Career & Work, College & Education, Family & Home, Insurance, Loans, Real Estate, and Retirement. Content providers are also a major feature of this new launch. Twenty-five providers including CNNMoney.com, Consumer Reports, Kiplinger, The Motley Fool, Smart Money, and The Wall Street Journal have all come aboard to serve customers with news and information, with TurboTax, Lending Tree and E-Trade among the notable sponsors. To , Personal Finance will feature 48 original “How To” guides for SMB financing tips, as well as planning for college funds and preparing for a new child. Advice columns, a personal finance glossary and 66 financial calculators are other features offered within Yahoo! Personal Finance.
