Yahoo Announces Multiple Mobile Partnerships at CES

Yahoo announced a plethora of partnerships today at the Consumer Electronics Show to support the beta version of its Yahoo! Go mobile service, which is now available.

Yahoo is currently testing the new version of Go on two models of Motorola’s popular RAZR phones. The service will also come pre-loaded on phones from Samsung, RIM, and Nokia. Go can also be downloaded to more than 70 mobile devices through the manufacturer and carrier websites. Go 2.0 includes Yahoo’s new oneSearch platform that recognizes search terms and provides related content grouped by subject instead of just links. Internet software developer Opera will be using oneSearch as the primary search service for its mobile browsers.

Yahoo has signed partnerships with several international carriers including 3 Group, whose reach includes the UK, Ireland, Sweden, and Denmark, and eight other carriers that cover Canada, India and Asia.

The online media stalwart has been building up the Go audience since 1999. “Yahoo! intends to be the number one mobile Internet player globally,” according Marco Boerries, Yahoo’s Connected Life SVP, in a statement. The internet giant expects to eventually reach audiences in more than 60 countries.
