Google Expanding Video Ads

Google is currently expanding its video advertising system on the AdSense publisher network.

On Thursday, Google asked several AdSense publishers if they wanted to run video samples of content from sites like WSJ.com and Style.com, according to Forbes. And earlier this week, Google announced that it would be working with the Warner Music Group and Sony BMG to deliver music videos along with video ads.

Google’s current video ad tests mirror last year’s experiment in which Google distributed ad-supported music videos from MTV Networks. Except now, publishers will be able to select the videos they want to run from playlists provided by Google.

Google says it will be testing video from more content partners over the next few weeks. “We know our publishers are passionate about developing quality content and providing the best experience possible for their users. With this test, we hope to offer you new forms of engaging, relevant content to meet these goals,” wrote Google product manager Christian Oestlien on the official AdSense blog. Ads pay per-play instead of per-click. The publisher tests are by invite only.
