PayPerPost Pays Up for Performancing.com

The PayPerPost paid blogging service has announced it will purchase blogging support and development company Performancing.com.

The acquisition of Performancing gives PayPerPost access to Performancing’s community of more than 28,000 bloggers and tools like the Performancing Metrics analytics platform and the Performancing Exchange classified listings for bloggers.

“PayPerPost is committed to furthering the development of a strong and viable professional blogging community. Performancing has created several very innovative services that help bloggers become more successful in their work,” said PayPerPost CEO Ted Murphy in a statement. ” We believe this acquisition not only helps marketers and bloggers, but also solidifies PayPerPost as the premier destination for those who make their career in weblog publishing.”

The buyout, though, does not include the Performancing Blog Editor add-on for Mozilla’s Firefox browser or Performancing Exchange, Performancing’s recently launched advertising platform. Both of those items will be transferred to a new brand.

PayPerPost has been under fire from many A-list bloggers because it serves as a marketplace that lets marketers pay bloggers to blog about their products, sometimes requiring positive reviews. PayPerPost recently began requiring bloggers to disclose whether their posts had been paid for or not.

PayPerPost is giving existing Performancing Metrics members a paid opportunity to review both Performancing Metrics and Performancing Exchange on their blogs.
