Netflix, Amazon Top Holiday E-Tailer List
According to the University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index methodology, or the ACSI, online shoppers were even more pleased with this year’s holiday season shopping over last year. The Top 40 online Retail Satisfaction Index, which is produced by ForeSee Results and FGI Research, shows that consumers were happier with 2006 over 2005′s shopping feats.
With over 10,000 online holiday shoppers surveyed, the ACSI recorded customer satisfaction within leading retailers rose one point (1.4%). Other findings according to the Top 40 Online Retail Satisfaction Index include Netflix.com at 86 points, Amazon.com with 84, LLBean.com and QVC.com both at 80 points, makeing them the top-rated websites and favorites when it comes to online holiday shopping. Apple.com and Old Navy.com lagged slightly behind, both with 79 points. In terms of general improvement department stores took the lead with websites for, Sears, JC Penny and Target making major leaps over the 2005 holiday shopping season.
On the other end of the spectrum, the lowest scoring sites for online holiday shopping were CompUSA.com, Costco.com, and CDW.com.
In general most sites improved over last years holiday season, and only 7 sites showed a decline in customer satisfaction while 8 sites remained consistent with 2005. Apparel sites were appealing to shoppers, and shoppers preferred apparel sites over mass merchant and electronic retailers.
“What’s remarkable is that the leaders are really working hard to remain the leaders,” Larry Freed, President and CEO of ForeSee Results, said in a statment. “The top eight retailers from last season either maintained or improved. They aren’t resting on their laurels or giving other retailers a chance to erode their customer base.”
