FOX Sports Kicks Off Digital, Full-Length Distribution of Bowl Championship Series
FOX Sports today announced a comprehensive download of full-length games from the 2007 Tostitos Bowl Bash that will be broadcast on FOX TV. With preview shows beginning today, the digital download offering will in turn include The AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, The FedEx Orange Bowl, The Allstate Sugar Bowl and The Tostitos BCS National Championship Game. This is the first downloadable attempt that FOX Sports has ventured into for its sports fans and it has been developed through a partnership between FOX Sports and the Bowl Championship Series.
Full-length games, preview shows, highlights and condensed games and highlights can be accessed by visiting the FOX Sports on MSN, Fox Interactive Media’s Direct2Drive , Apple’s iTunes, Amazon’s Unbox, AOL Video, CinemaNow and Instant Media websites. Other outlets for the Tostitos Bowl Bash on FOX include MSN and Direct2Drive. An unprecedented live simulcast of the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic will also be available for live streaming during the January 1st event.
“Our goal is to expand the reach of the Bowl Championship Series through as many platforms as possible, and digital rights have become a more important part of the media mix every year,” says Gary Ehrlich, Executive Vice President of FOX Sports Enterprises in a press statement.
Preview shows will be available beginning December 28, 2006. Prices range between $1.99 for “Short-Cuts” and the “Best of the Bowl Bash,” while other programs will cost between $2.99 to a discounted price of $19.99 for a full highlights package. Most full-length games will be available for download within 24 hours of a given game’s completion, and various distribution partners will enable fans to pre-order any of the games starting today.
