Text Link Ads-Backed ReviewMe Aims to Rival PayPerPost

Blog advertising company ReviewMe, which pays bloggers to write about advertiser products and services, launched yesterday. Like PayPerPost, ReviewMe has a marketplace system to connect advertisers and bloggers. Unlike PayPerPost, ReviewMe requires bloggers to disclose whether or not a blog post is sponsored. However, ReviewMe currently has no policy on how paid posts should be disclosed.

Rather than paying all bloggers a fixed fee for paid posts, ReviewMe uses a complicated algorithm to determine a blog’s value, and charges advertisers accordingly–anywhere from $20 to $200 per post.

ReviewMe is kicking off the launch by giving away a total of $25,000 to bloggers to review the new service. “Every new blogger accepted into the ReviewMe network will immediately have the opportunity to earn cash by reviewing ReviewMe itself,” wrote president Andy Hagans on the official blog. “This gives new reviewers a chance to see exactly how our system works, and helps spread the word about ReviewMe, too (good or bad).”

ReviewMe is backed by Text-Link-Ads, a Mediawhiz company that provides sponsored link services to advertisers and web publishers.
