An Insider’s View from the Podcamp “Unconference”
Your Turn
Now to make this article interactive with some graphics. I mentioned before that you need to register to come to Podcamp. We do that so we know how many t-shirts and how much food to buy. But we organize with a wiki. Before you run terrified for the hills, a wiki (and this is my personal low-tech definition) is a website that allows any user to change/update the content of the website. So instead of 1,000 people emailing me the minute changes to their session title, they can go to the wiki and do it for
The pictures included below are from our current wiki which is located at:
http://podcamp.pbwiki.com/PodCampNYC. Our new wiki will be located at: http://podcampnyc.pbwiki.com/. Here’s how the new one looks so you won’t be disoriented when you visit:

Pretty, huh? The tutorial below is from our current/soon to be older wiki. But the same process applies when registering or signing up for a session. The main point here is wiki’s are an amazing tool and I want to show you how many people can alter this tool and update it and save a huge amount of time. In fact, during podcamp we’ll also be updating the wiki in live time so every time you refresh your browser you’ll read important information like, “we’ve run out of beef jerkey” or “conference room 217a doesn’t atually exist.” You know, the things some poor, stressed out event planner normally has to report breathlessly on a microphone during lunch while nobody is listening.
Okay. Here are some pictures of our present wiki:

This is the front page of the PodCamp (Boston) wiki. Looks just like a regular ol’ website. (http://podcamp.pbwiki.com/) Click on PodCamp NYC and you come here.
