ViTrue Wins Funding from Comcast, TBS

User-generated ad company ViTrue has gained an undisclosed amount of venture funding from Comcast Interactive Capital, the new technology investment wing of the Comcast Corporation and cable programming provider Turner Broadcasting Systems, a division of Time Warner.

ViTrue plans to use the funding to further develop its user-created advertising platform and expand its advertising partnerships. For a current campaign, ViTrue partnered with social networking site Friendster to encourage users to create their own political ads, which appeared both on Friendster and on ViTrue’s flagship video site Sharkle.com.

“User-created video is becoming a crucial component of the online entertainment community,” said ViTrue CEO Reggie Bradford in a statement. “As user-created content further penetrates the daily lives of consumers, advertisers are realizing that user-created ads are the natural marketing message to resonate with this audience. The addition of these strategic partners is a key step in our corporate vision to establish user-created ads as a key part of the marketing mix.”

ViTrue’s service lets advertisers feature user-created video ads on their own custom-branded sites, and contains a strict review system to avoid copyright infringement.
