Q3 Brand Ad Revenue Up 35% for Sohu.com

Chinese media and mobile search portal Sohu.com has released its third quarter results, showing a 35% increase in brand advertising-related revenue over last year, as well as a 27% increase in total ad revenue. Ad revenues accounted for 67% of Sohu’s total revenue. Brand advertising brought in $21 million, while search-related advertising brought in $2.9 million. Revenue from search-related advertising was down 10% from last year.

“This was another good quarter for Sohu with record total revenues of US$35.4 million backed by record high brand advertising revenues, which exceeded US$21.0 million and grew 35% year-on-year,” said CEO Dr. Charles Zhang in a statement. “During the quarter, we’ve continued to successfully enhance our product and content offering to appeal to the increasingly sophisticated online user base in China by integrating our Web 2.0 community-based products with traditional products and also expanding our premier, differentiated and exclusive content, particularly those relating to sports, leveraging our Olympics sponsorship role and the strong Sohu brand.”

Last November, Sohu.com was named the official online sponsor of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
