PodZinger Opens Podcast Search Ad Network
The online advertising network of podcast search company PodZinger is now open for business. PodZinger’s speech-to-text technology makes speech found in a video or audio podcast searchable by keyword. That same technology also makes it possible for podcasters to monetize their archives by including contextual ads in the search results. One PodZinger’s key features is the Flash-based media player which can begin playing a podcasts’s content at the exact moment a search term is spoken.
“Advertisers should not wander in to the world of online audio and video with blind hope of finding their target audience,” said PodZinger CEO Alex Laats in a statement. “With PodZinger, advertisers can craft their campaigns based on real information about consumer intent and usage, aggregated over a broad base of consumers. We are excited to bring this capability to market and share it with our content partners and network of affiliates.”
PodZinger advertisers can target ads based on useage and topic filters. Podcasters can sign up for free through the PodZinger site. The service requires a PayPal account, with PodZinger and the podcaster spiltting the ad revenue 50/50. According to the company, users are 10 times more likely to consume a podcast through the search results on the PodZinger website than they are to download the full episode.
