Google, CBS Offer Couric Gadget
Google has partnered with CBS to offer Google home page users a Gadget that streams news and information from the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. The Google home page is available to all users with a free Google account, and is customized by way of plug-ins and mini-applications (Gadgets) that can display anything from email and calendar information to live webcams. There are already news feed Gadgets available from just about any news service that has an RSS feed. But the Katie Couric Gadget adds some extra goodness for the Couric-obsessed.
In addition to CBS news headlines, users can watch the latest CBS news video clips right inside the Google home page. There are also direct links to the latest CBS news videos, the latest entries from Katie’s blog, the CBS Evening News TV schedule, photos of Katie via Google’s Picasa photo sharing service, and links to sections of the CBS Evening News website like the new “Free Speech” and “Couric and Co.”
The Gadget is officially hosted by Google, and like all Gadgets, is free.

this is the first i’ve heard about Katie Couric’s blog. It would have been good to include the link too. After a quick serach, there’s one called Couric and Company at http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/couricandco/main500803.shtml but no immediate sign of anything posted by Katie. Interesting.
