Yahoo Sponsors Search on go2 Mobile
Today, a mobile search advertising agreement has been signed between Yahoo and go2 Directory Systems. Within the agreement, go2, which provides local search, directory, and movie guide information over mobile devices, will feature Yahoo’s sponsored search listings in its search results.
With the new relationship, Yahoo advertisers will reach consumers searching for local products and services on their mobile devices. While already a presence in mobile sponsored search in the Japanese and UK markets, the agreement marks the company’s first full mobile launch in the US.
Lee Hancock, founder and CEO of go2, expressed excitement in partnering with a market leader like Yahoo. “By combining go2′s significant user-base and core competency of mobile local search with Yahoo!’s high quality sponsored search results, we are confident that it will be even easier for our users to get better and more detailed local information when they are on the go,” he said.
“Consumers are using their mobile phones to search for local information everywhere they go, so delivering our listings to go2′s broad mobile user base just makes sense,” added Michael Bayle, senior director of business development for Yahoo Search Marketing.
Go2′s local search results will include national and regional advertisers and traditional business listings along with Yahoo’s search advertisers. Sponsored search advertisers typically include relevant information about their businesses for mobile users, such as hours of operation, parking instructions, discounts, and specials.
