Interep Launches Viral Video Network
The Interactive Video Network (IVN), a subsidiary of the Interep Interactive online advertising sales company, has announced its intent to launch a new video platform called the Viral Video Network. Viral is designed to give advertisers access to a large video audience and to guarantee that their video ads appear on consumer-generated content sites.
Several websites have signed on as initial Viral Video Network partners including photobucket.com, vmix.com and redbalcony.com. At launch time, the Viral network will reach more than 15 million individual users, almost 9% of Internet users. IVN expects that percentage to increase to about 20% by the end of 2006.
“Viral Video Network gives advertisers the ability to ‘jump-start’ viral video campaigns with guaranteed positioning on sites that specialize in consumer generated content, especially video,” said IVN president Kevin Gianatiempo in a statement. “We are making it easy and efficient to place marketing-related video, whether shot by professionals or just a guy with a cool idea, as an alternative or a supplement to ’seeding’ multiple sites and hoping a viral component takes over. Viral Video Network will bring order to the process.”
Campaigns on the Viral Video Network will be sold on a CPM basis and be guaranteed a minimum number of plays within a specified date range. Viral will share revenue with publishers within its network. The system also includes real-time reporting that will let advertisers optimize their campaigns.
