Buy.com Pushing User-Created Video Reviews

Online shopping website Buy.com has teamed up with video-sharing service Grouper to encourage online shoppers to create, share, and submit their own video product reviews. Video reviews are embedded directly in each Buy.com product page. Buy.com is part of the Grouper Video Partnership Program. Buy.com is using Grouper’s new webcam video capture and sharing system that lets users record and upload video reviews right onto Buy.com with a single mouse click.

“By partnering with Grouper, we add the rich dimension of video to help Buy.com shoppers make a more informed purchasing decision,” said Buy.com CEO Neel Grover in a statement. “Grouper makes the process of creating and uploading video reviews simple, and we believe that offering our customers this new degree of information keeps Buy.com at the forefront of online shopping.”

Buy.com users who want to upload video reviews have to first register with Grouper through a Buy.com branded page. Video reviews will also appear on Grouper.com and appear alongside relevant links to Buy.com product pages. Grouper, which was just acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment, has also released an embedded video player that will let Buy.com users record and share video comments, email video links to friends, and post video on third-party site.
