World Cup Drives Record Eyeballs to FoxSoccer.com
Has the U.S. online audience finally embraced the world’s past-time? According to ComScore Media Metrix, interest in the 2006 World Cup drove 4.9 million users to FoxSoccer on MSN, garnering 118 million page views. The FoxSoccer.com activity bled through into its parent site, FOXSports.com on MSN, leading it to its best month ever with 14.7 million users generating 491 million page views in the month of June. When Ghana defeated the US Men’s National squad on June 22, activity on FoxSoccer peaked with 2.4 million unique users.
“We’ve worked hard to make Fox Soccer Channel the point of reference for U.S. soccer fans in all media, and our online traffic during the World Cup bears that out,” said Fox Soccer Channel’s GM David Sternberg in a statement, “FoxSoccer.com was the online news and feature destination of choice for millions of people across the nation. We will continue to work closely with Fox Interactive Media, FOXSports.com and MSN to build upon this record level of interest and generate even more awareness of the world’s game here in the United States.”
FoxSoccer plans to roll out several features, like live scoreboards, real-time match trackers, blogs and free Fox Soccer Channel video feeds, which proved their worth during the World Cup
